1. Single purpose
Tabu helps users keep WhatsApp Web private in public spaces by blurring the page and revealing only the message, chat list item, composer, or contextual menu the user is actively interacting with.
2. Data collection
Tabu does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or store personal data, WhatsApp messages, contacts, media, browsing history, or account information.
3. Local processing
The extension works locally in the user's browser. It modifies the visual presentation of WhatsApp Web through a content script and does not send page contents to any server.
4. Chrome storage
Tabu uses Chrome extension storage only to save local preferences, such as whether the blur protection is enabled and the selected blur intensity.
5. Host permission
Tabu requests access to https://web.whatsapp.com/* so it can run on WhatsApp Web and apply the privacy blur effect to that site only.
6. Remote code
Tabu does not execute remote code. All extension logic is bundled inside the extension package submitted to the Chrome Web Store.
7. macOS app
Tabu for macOS applies a local visual overlay to official WhatsApp Desktop. It does not read, collect, store, or send WhatsApp messages. Accessibility permission is used only to place the overlay and reveal the area under the cursor.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
